Bright Futures Investor RWE npower are once again running their award winning Energy Challenge, and want as many Bright Futures teams as possible to enter!
What's it all about?
In teams of 4, with the help of a supporting lecturer, npower want you to develop a solution to the following challenge question:
"How should a power generation and supply company respond to climate change?"
How do I get involved?
To enter the competition all you need to do is:
- Form a team - team members must be undergraduate penultimate and/or final year students in the academic year commencing Sept 2009. At least one member must be studying an engineering, science or business-related degree. The supporting lecturer must be from the department of at least one team member
- Email david@brightfuturesresourcing.com to register your interest in entering as a Bright Futures team (see why enter as a Bright Futures team below)
- Register formerly with npower by clicking HERE
Final applications must be submitted no later than Friday 22nd January 2010.
What happens next?
Once you've formed a team and registered with Bright Futures and npower, you will:
- Submit a 500 word summary of your ideas. This must be submitted online by 5pm on Friday 22nd January 2010.
- A shortlist of approximately 24 teams will then be invited to the regional heats. Teams at this stage will make a 6 minute presentation based on their ideas.
- Following this up to 8 teams will be invited to the npower Energy Challenge Final at Wembley Stadium on 15th March 2010. Here teams will present for 8 minutes to a new judging panel - the RWE npower Executive board!!
The all important PRIZES!!
Each winning team member will receive £1250. The winning team will also win an additional £5000 for the academic department of the supporting lecturer (this is going to be a great hook to get the academic involvement you need to enter!!).
There are 2nd and 3rd place prizes also available, detailed in the booklet linked below.
Why enter as a Bright Futures Team?
Bright Futures will be holding TWO exclusive npower Energy Challenge webinars (dates to be confirmed) for all teams who register their application with us. These webinars are designed to help with:
1) How to construct and submit the best possible application
2) How to succeed in the Regional Heats
These webinars will be packed full of really useful ideas, hints and tips designed to give you an edge over teams.

It's a fantastic chance to showcase what you're made of, as well as looking great on your CV and giving you the chance to network with npower staff from across the UK and Germany.
