A ‘haystack’ without ‘needles’: Why are Sports Marketing placements so hard to find?

Yes, I can imagine that such a placement would be difficult to find because although marketing is no niche market, sports marketing perhaps is. This is interesting because, the sporting world has some of the largest marketing budgets in the world, but this is usually outsourced to large consulting and professional marketing companies which have very closed contracts. With placements in general, it’s important to know what you want, but I think sometimes comprising with what's on offer is important too. In other words, you may not get exactly what you want, but you should perhaps settle for something close to it. And I think one thing people often forget about placements is that they are more competitive to get than graduate jobs, and have a more pressurised recruitment process than even graduates get. So, don't forget to apply early, and if you get a placement with a reputable company, don't let it go ;).
