Top Tips from Essex Bright Futures (Part 1)

Excellent plan, Tara! Congratulations to you and your committee. It's fantastic to see a well-organised, innovative and 'green' society. Your ideas will certainly help differentiate your society from others at Essex University. Keep up the good work!

It's been a great experience and I'm going to continue my role next year as President too and then I'll think about opening it up to others! I'm just in the middle of planning my AGM/incoming committee elections/handover etc, just when I thought the events were over! There's always something to do and that's why I love it! Looks as if you've been busy too! I think I might write a 5 part series blog, ambitious right!? I'm just wondering what my next title should be... Anyways, thanks for the comments!

Tara - this is such good stuff it should be core reading for all new committee members - I would welcome ideas on how we can quickly and easily do this....ideas welcome

Well it could maybe be incorporated into the Committee toolkit. Then again, we don't want to set so many rules and regulations that committees can't do things, make mistakes and learn for themselves - after all this is all part of the personal development process when you're part of a Bright Futures committee. I plan to write a blog every 2 weeks on something or another - next week will probably be on planning for the AGM, especially for new societies - just because I feel we've achieved so much since we launched. Hopefully this will help give a few ideas for those that are having difficulties about where to start or haven't even thought about it yet! I'm sure there's many other societies, new/established, large/small that could share their advice too - in fact, it was key to our development as a society. Generally, I feel people should be using the blog and forum much more; I must admit I didn't check it that often before my first blog, but now I check it every other day - it's a great place to share ideas really!
