BRIGHT FUTURES NEWS (cont...)
Bright Futures are currently in talks with numerous companies from a wide range of sectors to ensure that the network continues to grow. June has proven to be extremely successful in terms of bringing Bright Futures to the attention of new organisations. We would like to officially welcome The Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP), Audit Commission and dunnhumby as Corporate Investors.
Keep an eye out for their corporate profiles and contact details which will be added to the national website shortly!
After our successful collaboration with Loughborough Careers Services, which ultimately resulted in a Loughborough Bright Futures, we have been in talks this month with many more universities careers services directly.
Dates are now in the the diary for National Team activity at St. Andrews and Derby for the Autumn Term and Cardiff Uni is also currently on our radar.

Bright Futures Personal Profiles powered by gradintel.com
Well done to those members who registered for this new and exciting graduate career matching service. A large number of tags have already been sent to those registered Bright Futures members in the last two months. If you have registered and have yet to receive a tag, it could mean that you need to do some more work on your profile. Profiles which are less than 30% complete are less likely to be tagged for jobs than more complete profiles. When you get a break from your exams, spend a bit of time updating your profile. The most popular search elements used by our employers are currently:
- 1. Degree subject linked to predicted or actual result
- 2. UCAS points score
- 3. Previous education
- 4. Work and Life experience
- 5. The results of our numerical and verbal ability assessments

SOCIETY NEWS (cont...)
The exams at Nottingham are over (at last!) and nu futures are looking to get back into the swing of things... After running into obstacles with the university's SU, nu futures are has decided to run un-ratified and as such we have the freedom to do a lot more of what we like and hopefully a lot more of what the students like without being tied down by rules and regulations and piles of paperwork! Our committee have been throwing around some ideas of what to do with our corporate investors next year and have some really exciting ideas... but we don't want to give away too much just yet! Also, we'd like to thank our friends over at Rolls Royce who kindly let us co-host their stand with them at the Nottingham Careers Fair on June 9th - this allowed us to get a load of new members on board and spread the BF word to both the attending students and to non-Bright Futures corporates.
After a difficult and hard year establishing themselves, the hard work of Swansea Bright Futures Society was recognised at the Student Union Society Awards on the 7th June 2009… Against many other new and established societies, Bright Futures picked up two very much deserved awards. The first was for the flagship event, ‘Dinner with Industry’, for which they were awarded ‘Best Original Event’. Though there were many other deserving societies who had put on outstanding events, the success of ‘Dinner with Industry’ ensured that Bright Futures secured this award. The second award presented to Bright Futures was the coveted ‘Most Innovative Society’ award. As there were so many societies nominated for this award, and Swansea Bright Futures was a new society, the committee were quite surprised to receive this award. They were also the only other society to win two awards on the night, matching the biggest and popular society in their University, the Dance Society. Every member of the Bright Futures committee was also presented with an ‘Individual Contribution’ certificate, for all the work they had put in to making Swansea Bright Futures such a success in 2008-2009.
