your bright future

Welcome to Bright Futures Leeds! Although only established two years ago, our society has already built up a dedicated following of members. Bright Futures is the UK's largest student led non-political society with 36 local university societies. Here at Leeds we have links to many of these local societies as well as the Bright Futures national team.

Bright Futures focuses on delivering quality employability skills training to students, as well as engaging in a range of projects to facilitate the interface between university life and the world of work.

In order to allow our members to improve their employability skills here at Leeds we work with leading graduate recruiters, who deliver interactive workshops and presentations on teamworking, presentation skills, problem solving, project management and more. Our members are better prepared for the transition from academic to business life.

why join?

For the past few years, students have been told that a degree is no longer enough to get them a job on graduation. The idea that you should have some extracurricular activities on your CV is well established; however, the evidence is that students still aren't doing enough. Firms from every industry sector need individuals with a high level of personal and interactive skills.

A recent survey by the Association of Graduate Recruiters has identified the top ten skills and personal qualities desired by employers.

  • motivation and enthusiasm
  • interpersonal skills
  • teamworking
  • oral communication
  • flexibility and adaptability
  • initiative
  • problem solving
  • planning and organisation
  • managing your own development
  • written communication

At Bright Futures Leeds we aim to develop all these qualities whilst giving you the opportunity to network with graduate employers in an enjoyable and relaxed environment. We look forward to seeing you at our next event.

Regards
